IDBS, has announced that BASF, has selected IDBS to deliver a data management and process development platform across its global research organization.

BASF wish to increase productivity by improving their data management and workflow solutions in the research area, with the ability to secure, integrate and access research data worldwide. This will improve and facilitate the global collaboration between labs and Competence Centers.

IDBS E-WorkBook Suite, a flexible framework with pluggable domain specific extensions, will enable BASF to capture and analyze all their data as it is generated across these diverse disciplines.

E-WorkBook will be deployed across BASF as a replacement for a number of legacy systems so that information exchange between their research groups can be optimized and the number of interfaces can be minimized. It will be used across organic synthesis, polymer, process and catalytic chemistries, bioprocessing and materials testing.

E-WorkBook is an enterprise data management and process improvement system. Activating the E-WorkBook for Chemistry extensions, it displays advanced 'cheminformatics' technology and provides a unique single platform enabling domain specific workflow automation and data management that is easy to deploy, train and use.

E-WorkBook is used as a foundation of R&D data management in leading industrial sectors such as pharmaceuticals, energy, engineering and consumer products.

On announcing the engagement with BASF, IDBS founder and CEO Neil Kipling said: "Being selected by a world leader like BASF is a great accolade for IDBS. It recognizes our ability to provide and deploy high value solutions that span multiple disciplines of R&D. The power of data in organizations such as BASF is immense and our passion is in unlocking that value on behalf of our customers."

"During our selection process IDBS demonstrated to be a strong partner regarding expertise in chemistry research and ability to deliver on promise; these were key factors for our decision. We expect IDBS to be capable to deliver solutions for the heterogeneous research processes of BASF that improve efficiency and knowledge sharing in the labs," said Dr. Thomas Lorenz, Vice President, BASF Group Information Center.
