Verne Global, a provider of advanced data center solutions, announced that Cloudflare, the leading performance and security company, has made Verne Global part of Cloudflare’s Global Anycast Network. With this deployment, Cloudflare becomes the most notable network connected to the Reykjavik Internet Exchange (RIX), allowing traffic to flow directly to Icelandic networks. ISNIC, Iceland's Network Information Centre that operates RIX, is part of Verne Global’s campus.

Cloudflare speeds up and protects millions of websites, APIs, SaaS services, and other properties connected to the Internet. Deploying its Anycast technology on its servers within Verne Global’s HPC-optimised campus is part of Cloudflare’s global strategy to reduce latency and time-to-first byte by delivering content closer to users.

As part of their deployment, Cloudflare is able to directly leverage Iceland’s three high-capacity fibre optic submarine cables that terminate in Verne Global’s campus: FARICE-1, DANICE and Greenland Connect reducing latency to Cloudflare’s Anycast platform from 35 milliseconds to under 1 millisecond.

“Verne Global is an impressive and well-managed facility and having our Point of Presence (PoP) located within their campus will help us improve the security and performance of over 7 million Internet properties,” said Nitin Rao, Cloudflare’s Head of Infrastructure and Video. “With the help of the Verne Global team and its local partners, we are able to interconnect at the RIX and look forward to seeing the ecosystem for local interconnection continue to develop in Iceland.”

“The Verne Global campus is the ideal location for innovative, first movers like Cloudflare to expand their network presence,” said Tate Cantrell, Chief Technology Officer at Verne Global. “By providing access to robust connectivity, optimised infrastructure and an abundant, scalable power profile, Cloudflare enables their customers to directly connect to a data center location that is dedicated to serving intensive computing applications.”
