Protein Metrics Inc., a leading provider of mass spectrometry software for protein characterization, has introduced the Byos™ platform, which automates biotherapeutic characterization workflows with just one click.

“Byos enabled our lab to characterize and report on sets of candidates in parallel, reducing analytical time for clone selection by 20-30%, and substantially improving our ability to identify robust candidates for development,” says Hirsh Nanda, Ph.D., Associate Director and Team Manager, Cell and Developability Sciences, Janssen Pharmaceuticals. “The Byos platform fully automates the analysis pipeline, and has significantly improved the way our development group approaches clone selection and early development.”

Byos allows scientists to go from raw file to report in just minutes and facilitates rapid decision making in modern biologics organizations. The platform produces product quality data immediately, and reports quality attributes to managers and non-specialists automatically.

“We created Byos to enable any type of user to quickly analyze and characterize the most complex biopharmaceutical candidates,” says Eric Carlson, Ph.D., CEO and President, Protein Metrics. “With automated workflows, researchers can see enormous gains in discovery and development, with up to 90% time savings while also gaining much clearer insight into their proteins.”

Byos also ensures consistency and reproducibility within the laboratory, thus giving researchers confidence in their results.

Byos template workflows allow XIC feature comparison with MS/MS IDs for Post-Translational Modification, Host Cell Proteins, Disulfide Bonds, and Sequence Variance Analysis. Its in silico workflows support XIC feature comparison and chromatogram analysis (MS1 only). Annotation and comparison workflows allow researchers to analyze chromatograms with MS/MS IDs. The platform also provides workflows for Intact Mass Charge Deconvolution and de novo sequencing.

Each workflow slashes the time involved in reporting and ensures consistent reports across a group by automatically populating reports and summaries of analysis from report templates. The Byos platform also allows researchers to create custom workflows and custom reporting while still benefitting from automated analysis.
