Tatsoft LLC, a provider of software tools for factory-floor, process control and business applications, has announced the release of FactoryStudio 2014, an engineering and development platform, on top of Microsoft .NET Framework, delivering solutions to run on Windows PCs, Web, virtual machines and iOS mobile clients.

FactoryStudio 2014 extends the concept of the real-time in-memory database, used by SCADA and HMI factory-floor tools, to a complete set of business entities able to deliver applications ranging from standalone local HMIs to IT Operations Centers and Management Execution Systems.

Beyond working with simple tags, the FactoryStudio real-time core manages process variables and assets composed by hierarchical data templates, multi-dimensional dynamic arrays, lists, date-time and interval variables, images and data tables. Automatic tag definition synchronization with OSIsoft™ PI System, PI AF™ and PI Event Frames™, Rockwell™ PLCs, XML, SQL, OPC servers and various other systems is also included. Deep .NET integration provides easy reference and management of external DLLs and a built-in C#/VB.NET script editor and debugger with breakpoints, step, watch and online code changes to efficiently create and manage .NET scripts and classes; a truly modern Google Search enabled help system, all to empower todays' users to flourish in todays' environments.

FactoryStudio 2014 provides an fully integrated solution, entirely created in managed Microsoft .NET Framework code, a built-in SQL database and external database connectors, data-acquisition protocols, alarm and event management tools and notifications, batches, recipes, scheduling and data logging, graphical designer to create dynamic Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) displays; all combined with an intuitive and graphically- oriented engineering user interface.

Real-time displays can run in rich-client control stations, multi-monitor context-sensitive portals, Web pages, Android and iOS (native) devices. Automatic hot-standby redundancy, store-and-forward, project development change tracking and product version management, in-chart trend annotations, powerful data grids complete the package.

According to Dave Hellyer, VP of Sales & Marketing for Tatsoft, "With legacy software companies being bought and sold again and again, with the original founders and product creators long gone, becoming just another cell in the matrix of products offered by hardware companies, it's difficult to find truly innovative modern HMI/SCADA/BI products built on technologies for todays' evolving platforms and customer needs. FactoryStudio's engineering and runtime environments are built for such needs.  It is invigorating to the market that, while companies with legacy products are being absorbed and fading away, new live products with evolving innovative features keep the solutions market moving forward."

"There are many companies desperately trying to stretch the life of their legacy systems and even a few vendors with old products based on core technologies that are already 10-15 years old. Meanwhile, many forward-thinking end-users and system integration companies are looking for the next Generation of Automation Software, with a true modern Graphical User Interface, that is cloud and tablet ready, with full .NET support, easier connectivity
