Union Solutions Chooses Caringo Object Storage to Power its Enterprise Cloud Storage Service

Caringo Inc. has announced that Union Solutions, an expert in virtualized data center infrastructures, has selected the Caringo Object Storage cloud platform powered by CAStor®, to serve as the backend infrastructure of its new cloud storage service, StorPoint, targeted at customers looking for enterprise-grade content storage and data protection.

Union Solutions is leveraging the processing, storage and backup infrastructure at their data centers in Maidstone, Kent and Byfleet, Surrey to provide a highly scalable and secure cloud storage service.

Optional data replication between the two sites and transfer via HTTPS are supported for increased data protection.

The service can be accessed in one of three ways - through an HTTP interface, through standard storage protocols via Caringo’s Content File Server (CIFS, NFS, FTP and WebDAV), and through any of the numerous third party applications that have natively integrated Caringo object storage such as Symantec Enterprise Vault and CommVault Simpana.

Union evaluated various cloud storage solutions and chose the Caringo object storage platform because of its software-only approach, allowing configuration as a public cloud storage service, a hybrid cloud storage solution with integrated gateway, and/or a secure private cloud storage solution that can be located in a customer’s datacenter.

In addition, the Caringo platform is built on a true object storage foundation, without a file system, enabling massive scale of both object count and storage capacity per location without degradation in performance.
