DNASTAR has announced that the Central Veterinary Institute, part of Wageningen University and Research centres (WUR) has chosen DNASTAR Lasergene software as its sequence analysis software platform for its faculty, staff and students, representing the third department or institute within WUR to enter into a site license agreement for Lasergene software in recent years.

A spokesperson for the Institute said “We have had a Lasergene network in place for many years. As we discussed ways to broaden the availability of Lasergene within our institute, both DNASTAR and we concluded that a site license made the most sense. With this arrangement, all of our institute’s scientists and students will now have access to a consistent and strong software suite of tools for sequence analysis for many years to come. We also included DNASTAR’s next-generation DNA and RNA sequencing software in our license to ensure that our scientists have tools available to them that are keeping up with changes in technologies in the sequencing world.”

Tom Schwei, Vice President and General Manager of DNASTAR, stated, “We have had a strong relationship with Wageningen University and Research centre for many years. This site license represents a natural extension of our relationship with this university and adds to the growing list of departments and institutes within Wageningen University whose faculty, staff and students have access to Lasergene. In addition, by including our next-gen sequencing software products, scientists and students affiliated with the Institute will be able to handle virtually any data and analysis required, regardless of sequencing technology or project size, all on their desktop computers. We are thankful for our relationship with WUR and we look forward to continuing to meet their sequence assembly and analysis software needs in the future.”

Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
