The role of the adaptive immune system in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, is controversial. Although neuroinflammation is thought to drive the pathology of age-related neurodegenerative diseases, a comprehensive understanding requires additional insights, including clarity into which T cell clones are expanded in the disease state and the antigens to which they are responding.
