Sage-N Research Expands Into China with New R&D Center for Proteomics

Sage-N Research, Inc. has announced that it is establishing a research and development center in the New Science Park in Shanghai, China.
Sage-N is the maker of the Sorcerer™ analysis appliance and the SEQUEST® Sorcerer system marketed by Thermo Electron Corp.
David Chiang, C.E.O. and Chairman of Sage-N Research, observed, "The field has been prolific in developing new proteomics data analysis algorithms, but the challenge is to deliver them promptly to the researchers who need them, in a form that is easy to use, even for large data sets."

Sage-N’s Sorcerer Proteomics Edition, is a high-throughput proteomics analysis system out of the box, and yet is designed as an extensible platform that can accommodate Open Source as well as proprietary analysis algorithms.
Unlike many proteomics IT products that try to be the "one best method", the Sorcerer appliance is designed to accommodate multiple algorithms and thus to allow scientists to pick and choose the components within a workflow that work best in a particular application.
The Sage-N Shanghai Center will work closely with leading proteomics scientists to quickly incorporate new technologies and applications into the Sorcerer appliance in the form of plug-in modules.
The Center plans its first modules to eliminate false positive results, for multiple peptide scoring functions, and for extensive post-translational modification searches.
The Sage-N Shanghai Center opens in early 2006, and has immediate openings for qualified developers in software, system, and database.
