Exploring a Thy1-YFP mouse brain from multiple angles
The brain of a Thy1-YFP mouse was processed with the X-CLARITY™ Systems. The brain was incubated in the X-CLARITY™ Hydrogel Solution Kit and then the sample was polymerized in the X-CLARITY™ Polymerization System to create a tissue-hydrogel hybrid. The brain was electrophoretically cleared of lipids with the X-CLARITY™ Tissue Clearing System, leaving behind a structurally intact and transparent tissue. The brain was incubated in the X-CLARITY™ Mounting Solution for refractive index matching. The brain was then imaged with the ZEISS Lightsheet Z.1 and FEI Amira 3D software was used to visualize the data.
