Geneva Bioinformatics (GeneBio) S.A. has announced the release of Phenyx, its state-of-the-art protein identification platform. This release incorporates the Phenyx Web Interface (PWI), a Web-based client used to interact with the Phenyx calculation engine.

According to GeneBio, a number of features have been added or enhanced within the platform to give users an experience and flexible possibilities to perform protein and peptide identification.

In addition to the completion of functionalities already available within its Java interface (the Phenyx Virtual Desktop) and within several HTML reporting and management tools, Phenyx is directly accessible via a Web browser.

The PWI is designed to allow, users to log in to a Phenyx server, to submit jobs, to visualize identification results in various views, to compare Phenyx and third-party software results in a single table, and to browse and manipulate a job history, along with a host of other functionalities.

The PWI introduces a number of platform features, several of which include: a Protein Details View displaying an extensive interpretation of a specific protein; Excel and XML reports of complete jobs; and a configurable management console that allows users to define their own amino acid modifications and enzymatic cleavage rules and to generate a variety of specific reports.

Following the Phenyx client/calculation engine setup, the Web client can access either public servers or locally licensed servers, depending upon the user’s preference.

Completion of the account registration process allows users to save, recall and resubmit jobs, along with managing their personal settings. Already registered users can take advantage of the PWI with their existing logins and passwords.

“We are extremely pleased with the current evolution of Phenyx,” said Nasri Nahas, CEO of GeneBio. “The feedback received from clients and partners is very exciting and shows that we are on the right track. We believe the launch of the PWI will allow a host of new users to experience the power and versatility of the Phenyx platform.”

“Our team has worked hard alongside key figures in the field to create an intuitive and responsive interface while updating platform-wide functionalities and taking advantage of Phenyx’s unrivalled scoring algorithm; we are confident that both new and experienced users will be happy with our work.
