Kevin Coombs, PhD, is a professor of medical microbiology and infectious diseases. Research from Dr. Coomb’s group involving the screening of over 1300 host proteins in Zika virus-infected cells, identified nearly 300 astrocyte proteins significantly dysregulated by Zika infections, pointing to pathways that may be involved in neurological complications resulting from Zika.
