Dorsal root ganglion
Editor's Pics Dec 22, 2016
Whole mount of a dorsal root ganglion from a 3 day old neonatal rodent.
Fluorescent tracers were injected into the hind paw (red and green) and allowed to travel back to the sensory neuron cell bodies that make up the dorsal root ganglion.
The cells have been further labelled with fluorescently-tagged antibodies (two shades of blue) to differentiate between the distinct sub-populations of neurons.
The multiple colours come from the various combinations of each in individual cells.
Width of this light micrograph is 1 mm.
