This light mircrograph shows a section of spinal cord from a rat stained with silver stain.
Large neurons (brown/yellow) as well as the network of dendrites and nerve fibres within the spinal cord are visible.
The spinal cord connects the brain with the peripheral nervous system and is a pathway for sharing information between the two.
