Malvern Specialist Discusses Light Scattering Techniques at BioProcess International Europe 2011

Read time: Less than a minute

Malvern Instruments’ product technical specialist, Dr Hanna Jankevics, will present a poster on ‘Light scattering for protein characterization in formulation studies’ at the 7th annual BioProcess International Europe conference in Nice (France), which runs from 6 - 7 April 2011.

The conference includes sessions to discuss protein aggregation, cell culture, and formulation in biomanufacturing.

Dr Jankevics’ poster includes examples of the application of light scattering techniques in the size, stability, isoelectric point, aggregation, and quantification analysis of proteins.

Techniques under discussion include dynamic light scattering, for monitoring the stability and oligomeric state of proteins, static light scattering, for measuring molecular weight, and electrophoretic light scattering (micro-electrophoresis), for determining electrophoretic mobility and zeta potential of proteins.
