More than half of adults are incorrectly classified as obese and overweight through BMI. In the US alone this equates to 54 million adults. With the rise of AI in clinical assessment, body volume index (BVI) could provide and more accurate and efficient prediction of health risk without the need for invasive medical examination. This would enable patients to be directed to the correct clinical pathway, ensuring the correct treatment first time, reducing costs and resources.

BVI is developed from access to a large database of full-body composition data. The integration of BVI with Electronic Health Records, the data management portal and the big data sets generated through BVI scanning is designed to continue to support the fight against obesity and its related diseases.

The use of BVI as a preventative tool to encourage health monitoring and facilitate weight loss could allow patients to take control of their own health by allowing them to undertake risk assessment in the comfort of their own homes.

What is BVI?

BVI uses AI technologies for scientific analysis of body composition by capturing a 3D scan of the human body. This is done by engaging the camera of a mobile phone to body data. There is no need for a second person to hold the phone – scans are captured “selfie” style in the comfort of the users own home and no photographs are taken or stored, such that personal data is secure. The results are scientifically interpreted in the background to provide an overall indication of the applicant's health and risk and are returned within just a few seconds.

Features

  • No personal contact: Minimize personal contact between patient/client and professional
  • Track outcomes: Track and monitor key health risk indicators for a better understanding of body composition.
  • No connectivity dependency: The technology can be used anywhere – with no need for WIFI.
  • Reduce 3D scanning costs: By utilizing application technology.
