GE Healthcare has launched His Mag Sepharose™ Ni, Protein A Mag Sepharose Xtra, and Protein G Mag Sepharose Xtra magnetic beads. The new magnetic beads provide high binding capacity, for fast separation and high quality results.

The highly visible, dense beads provide purity and yield, with parallel screening and high repeatability. Handling is simplified as capture is facilitated by magnetic devices, and visibility ensures reliable collection of the bound proteins/antibodies. The process is scalable, enabling simple capture of target protein or antibody from low microliter to high-milliliter scale.

His Mag Sepharose Ni beads are designed for purification/screening of histidine-tagged proteins from cell lysates and supernatants. Protein A Mag Sepharose Xtra and Protein G Mag Sepharose Xtra beads are designed for purification/screening of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies from cell culture supernatant and biological fluid.

The binding capacity is >27 mg human IgG/ ml medium on Protein A Mag Sepharose Xtra and Protein G Mag Sepharose Xtra and >50 mg (protein dependent) histidine-tagged protein/ml medium on His Mag Sepharose Ni.

In addition to the Mag Sepharose beads, MagRack 6 is also available, allowing scientists to prepare up to six samples captured in 1.5 ml microcentrifuge tubes. When the tubes are placed in the rack, the magnetic beads are attracted to the magnet within a few seconds and enable the supernatant to be removed while the magnetic beads are retained in the tube.
