NuSep Ltd. launches the MF10, protein separation unit. The MF10 is designed to simultaneously separate proteins based on size and charge. The technique employs a combination of polyacrylamide membranes with a gradation of pore sizes and electrophoretic charges through the buffer.
John Andrews CSO of NuSep further explained, “the researcher will chose from a selection of color-coded molecular weight cut-off membranes spanning the range of proteins under investigation. By controlling membranes, buffer pH and voltage the MF10 can create up to eight fractions simultaneously on samples as small as 200 microlitre.”
The 2D Polyacrylamide Membrane Separation (2D PAMS), technology allows fraction preparation, de-salting and depletion of abundant proteins, upstream of 2D gels, or MS. The method is non-destructive so the proteins retain their biological activity.
“The MF10 is designed to fill a gap in the Proteomics tool arsenal. The latest offering will allow individual researchers to do a variety of small scale protein preparations. The 2D PAMS technology will allow NuSep to continue to grow and be a leading supplier in the life science separations market”, says John Manusu, CEO and founder of NuSep Ltd, a bio-separations company with 30 years of experience.
