Analysis of Fat-Soluble Vitamins from Food Matrix for Nutrition Labeling
Labelling vitamins in a matrix like infant formula is a mandatory requirement by the FDA. The diversity in the chemical nature of vitamins makes concurrent extraction and analysis of all vitamins challenging. Due to this, analysis of water soluble and fat soluble vitamins will be usually performed separately. This Application Note describes a sen¬sitive and robust method for simulta¬neous determination of nine fat soluble vitamins with UV detection.

A MIQE Case Study — Effect of RNA Sample Quality and Reference Gene Stability on Gene Expression Data
In this study, the minichromosome maintenance (MCM) protein, MCM7, was selected as a model target gene to investigate the importance of appropriate reference gene selection and RNA sample quality as described by the MIQE guidelines.

Analysis of Natural and Artificial Vanilla Preparations
Vanilla extract is widely used as a flavoring ingredient in foods and beverages. It contains approximately 200 substances. Since natural vanilla extract is limited and prices are high, artificial vanilla flavorings are often used. Due to quality and price concerns, it is important to differentiate between these two.

Tools for Enhancing Sequence Diversity and Reducing Bias in DNA-seq Library Preparation
The generation of high quality next generation sequencing data begins with libraries that have the desired insert size and proper adapter ligation.

Advanced TC™: A Novel Cell Culture Surface Improving the Cultivation and Differentiation of Embryonic Stem Cells
The importance of embryonic stem cells rests in their lack of specialisation. These basic cells are present in the earliest stages of developing embryos and are able to develop into virtually any type of cell and tissue in the body.

ESGRO-2i Medium: Inhibitor-Based Serum-free Medium for ES and iPS Cell Culture
Defined serum-free and feeder-free culture of mouse embryonic stem (mES) cells holds many advantages over the classical serum-containing feeder-dependent culture methods, ranging from decreased lot-to-lot variations to ease of culture.

Analysis of Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid and Benzoic Acid in Orange Juice
While some fruit naturally contain ascorbic acid, citric acid and benzoic acid, these components are added additionally added to fruit juices to increase the shelf life. Although the regulatory limit for benzoic acid in fruit juices is 400 to 600 µg/mL, concerns exist regarding the liberation of carci¬nogenic benzene by reaction of benzoic acid with ascorbic acid under certain conditions.

PSVue®: Novel small molecule probes for fluorescent imaging of apoptosis and bacterial infections in vitro and in vivo
PSVue® offers a robust alternative to probes currently used by researchers to detect early-to-mid stage apoptosis, as well as bacterial infections.

Determining Total Sugar Content in Maple Syrup to Meet FDA Nutrition Labeling Requirements
Nutrition labels on food items provide valuable information to consumers. To ensure authenticity, the Food and Drug Administration checks the reported values on the nutrition labels. Due to advances in chromatography and universal analysis of sugars by refractive index detectors (RI), RI is the preferred method for sugar analysis. A total sugar analysis method for commercially available maple syrup was performed using Agilent HiPlex Ca Column and Agilent 1260 Infinity RI Detector.
