Breakthrough in Pre-empting Breast Cancer
The major scientific story hitting the headlines today is the findings that genetic tests signalling epigenetic changes could in fact give a strong warning signal prior to the onset of breast cancer.
Stanford Scientist Tracks Genetic Onset of Own Diabetes
At what point would you still want to/not want to know your genetically predisposed destiny? What if your genes spell out a fair chance of you developing diabetes or even cancer? Would you live your life differently, change your diet? All SySTEMs go for Groundbreaking Cell Research
With all the hype surrounding the impending arrival of the first ‘stem cell burger’, stem cell research is once again hitting the headlines, but the focus of the public’s reaction has been more of curiosity than scepticism.

Great article on gene regulation at extreme altitudes
Hi, and welcome to our blogging site. Whilst doing a bit of research today, I came across this fascinating article on genetic responses to extreme altitudes. Expression profiling in 4 human subjects, by blood collection at varying altitudes, gave some exciting insights into the transcriptional regulatory landscape involved in the body’s overall coping mechanisms in such conditions. Of great interest is the unexpected role played by the OCT4 stem cell regulator gene.
