Two years ago, a technique for molecule analysis failed to deliver for its niche use. But it was considered potential to reform the molecular analysis by the inventor-Makoto Fujita. After about two years touring for persuasion, the tool is prepared to be accepted.

The analysis technology requires the molecules to be embedded into cage to be inspected. Fujita has listed a lot of data to convince people that the technology is of validity, but some chemists who had experienced the technology don’t think it will be widely used in the field as it gives exact results not in all cases, which means that it works well in special cases.

The analytical support from the involved tech and equipment matters for that analyzing molecule structure is an important process during a relevant study or research. The most significant molecule structure data like the ones depicting the architecture of the DNA in the molecules are acquired from analyzing the X-ray diffraction process.

Generally putting the molecule at the fixed place to be analyzed can be a time consumable and difficult process, but this new technology is able to solve the problem by the setting of a sponge like cage consisting of metal organic molecules. The sponge will absorb target molecules for the analysis when it’s touched with the sample in a tube. In this way the molecules can be put at the analyzing point with much accuracy and ease.

However the technology didn’t perform well in providing the vital data needed by the researchers during an experiment. After the first paper veil the new tech in Nature, a lot of improvements have been done and Fujita will uncover the progress recently, though, the tool is still with much limitation commented by some chemists, as it can’t be applied for all molecule analysis for its reaction condition.

Besides, the new tool is easy to be copied. Chemist Derek Lowe he bought some reagent to imitating the sponge after reading the paper published by Fujita in 2013, and finally Derek succeeded.

Still the new analysis method is of great significance in improving the fixing process which was time-consuming and difficult to operate. With appropriate application, the new tool will be also very useful in providing the required data in a molecule researches or study.
