Head of Technology Development

 at ReiThera

Angelo Raggioli holds a degree in Biotechnology from the University of Naples Federico II and a PhD in Molecular Embryology from the University of Freiburg, where he investigated the molecular determinants of cellular identity in mouse embryonic stem cells. He subsequently spent five years as Lab Manager at EMBL Monterotondo, contributing to the development of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors in a neuroscience research environment. For the past six years, Angelo has served as Head of Technology Development at ReiThera, providing scientific and strategic leadership in the development of advanced viral vector platforms. He led the isolation and characterization of a novel Group C gorilla adenoviral vector with low seroprevalence and strong immunogenicity, and guided its translation into a genetic vaccine platform. This work culminated in a COVID-19 vaccine candidate that advanced to Phase II clinical trials and enabled a high-profile collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on an HIV vaccine program. In parallel, Angelo established and led the development of a proprietary AAV production cell line, now positioned as a strategic asset for internal programs and external partnerships in the gene therapy field. He is also committed to talent development, having supervised multiple PhD projects that resulted in patent applications, strengthening the company’s innovation pipeline. His leadership bridges deep scientific expertise with translational execution and long-term strategic vision.
