Staff Research Associate II
at University of California, San Diego
Annelies graduated from the University of Michigan in 2023 with an MS in pharmacology. Her graduate research focused on the misfolded protein clearing abilities of the Hsp70/90 protein chaperone system and its responses to novel small molecules. At University of California, San Diego (UCSD)’s HUMANOID, she leads a project whose goal is to build a mother–infant metabolite atlas that sheds light on key differences in drug metabolism across the placenta through the co-culturing of early gestational and maternal organoid models. Annelies also contributes to the Center of Research Excellence (CoRE)’s research in colorectal cancer and irritable bowel disease (IBD) by running efficacy and toxicity-based assays on patient-derived organoids treated with a novel differentiation compound.
