Christopher A. Rice, PhD profile page

Dr. Rice is an assistant professor in the Department of Comparative Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University. In this role, Dr. Rice teaches parasitology, mentors trainees, and manages international interdisciplinary collaborations with the goal of raising awareness and preventing exposure to these neglected pathogens. For over 16 years, his research has focused on life-threatening diseases caused by pathogenic free-living amoebae, with an emphasis on developing more effective treatments. Dr. Rice’s work integrates high-throughput drug screening to identify novel therapeutic candidates and drug repurposing strategies, advancing leads through pre-clinical translational murine models. His lab has also developed innovative diagnostic tools to improve detection.
