Academic Program Managing Officer

at University of California, San Diego

Courtney Tindle currently serves as the director at University of California, San Diego’s (UCSD)’s HUMANOIDTM Center of Research Excellence (CoRE), a fully staffed recharge core with internal R&D efforts that are exclusively focused on enabling human disease modeling using multidimensional organoids. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UCSD. After graduating, she explored opportunities for academic mentoring and teaching at the community college level for three years. Subsequently, in June of 2019, she transitioned back into research and assumed the role of a staff scientist at UCSD’s HUMANOID CoRE. Within the next two years, she rose through the ranks and currently serves as the director of the organization. She leads multiple academic and industry projects with a team of around seven scientists, each specializing in different disease areas. In her role, Ms. Tindle oversees not just day-to-day operations, but also all industry and academic collaborations within HUMANOID and training of students, staff, fellows, volunteers and visiting scientists within HUMANOID. She commands broad knowledge on the use of various techniques and tools (e.g., imaging, flow cytometry, functional immunology and cell biological techniques) to exploit patient-derived organoids as platforms for driving discovery.
