David Walling, PhD profile page

David Walling, PhD, is co-founder and chief clinical officer of CenExel–CNS, established in 2000 to expand access to high-quality clinical research. Under his leadership, CenExel-CNS has become one of the largest clinical research providers in the United States, conducting trials across inpatient and outpatient settings. Walling has served as principal investigator in more than 600 clinical trials and is an internationally recognized thought leader in schizophrenia, cognition, and psychiatric drug development. In addition to leading clinical programs, he advises pharmaceutical companies on drug development strategies, clinical trial design and analysis and regulatory engagement. Prior to founding CenExel, Walling served as vice president of clinical services at Psychiatric Management Resources Inc. and held faculty and research positions at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He has a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton and a bachelor’s in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach.
