Dr. Ulf Gyllensten profile page

Dr. Gyllensten received his Ph.D. from the Department of Genetics at Stockholm University in Sweden and his postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley in the Department of Biochemistry. In 1987 he joined Cetus Corporation in California before returning to Sweden as an assistant professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Uppsala. He is now a full professor in Medical Molecular Genetics in the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at the University of Uppsala. He has cofounded two companies, Decipher Genetics AB and Quantovir AB, and holds patents for several molecular biology methods. His research interests include the molecular underpinnings of cervical cancer (including developing genetic screens), the identification of the genetic determinants of quantitative traits in humans, and the application of massively parallel sequencing technology for understanding the genetics of complex disease. He has has published an extensive body of work in some of the most prestigious scientific journals.
