
Egidijus Machtejevas, PhD

Dr. Egidijus Machtejevas was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, where he pursued studies in chemistry, biotechnology and separation sciences at Kaunas University of Technology, earning his degrees between 1991 and 2001. As a research student, he spent a year in the laboratory of Professor Stellan Hjertén at Uppsala University, Sweden. After obtaining his PhD in analytical chemistry (2001–2007), he worked as a postdoctoral researcher under Professor Klaus Unger at Mainz University, Germany. Machtejevas spent two years at AstraZeneca, Sweden, where he established and validated several multidimensional systems for peptidomics analysis of various biological fluids. In 2008, he joined the R&D department at Merck KGaA in Darmstadt, Germany, where he transitioned to the role of marketing manager for North America in 2009, and from 2010 he has been the product manager for chromatography. Machtejevas has authored 25 scientific publications and 13 book chapters. His primary research interests include chromatography, multidimensional liquid chromatography, proteomics and mass spectrometry.
