Dr. Fabrice Chartier co-founded Orion Clinical Services Ltd in 1997 with Dr. Alan Irvine. The contract research organization (CRO) operated internationally and specialized in rare and orphan diseases, oncology, and other indications with high medical need. Chartier has been the chief executive officer of Simbec-Orion since November 2019. Prior to this, he served as chief operating officer of Simbec-Orion upon completion of the merger of Simbec Research and Orion Clinical Services in June 2014. In 1994, Chartier also founded Fournier Laboratories, a medium-sized French pharmaceutical company with a UK International Clinical Development Unit specializing in gene therapy and immunotherapy. Previously, he was a director at an international CRO based in Paris. Chartier completed a PhD in molecular genetics from Pierre and Marie Curie University.
