Dr. Frédéric Derbré graduated from Rennes 2 University with a BSc in Sport Sciences, and completed his MSc by Research in skeletal muscle plasticity and aging in 2008, within the Freshage research team at the University of Valencia. Derbré holds a PhD in Physiology, awarded in 2011 through an international joint supervision between the University of Valencia and Rennes 2 University. He obtained his Habilitation to Supervise Research (HDR) in 2021. Derbré’s research focuses on the modulation of skeletal muscle contractile and metabolic phenotypes under various physiological conditions (e.g., physical inactivity, microgravity and physical activity) and pathological conditions (e.g., cancer, gut dysbiosis and iron overload). He is particularly interested in the metabolic crosstalk between skeletal muscle and other organs, such as the gut microbiota and the liver.
