Georg Winter, PhD profile page

Dr. Georg Winter completed his graduate studies at CeMM in Vienna, where he investigated the mechanisms of action of cancer drugs, with a focus on proteomics and chemical genetics approaches. He went on to train in chemical biology as a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. James Bradner at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. In June 2016, he was recruited as a principal investigator at CeMM, where he worked on targeted protein degradation, with a particular focus on the phenotypic discovery and mechanistic characterization of molecular glue degraders. In April 2025, he was appointed life science director at AITHYRA. Winter has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications. His contributions to chemical biology and targeted protein degradation have been recognized with several international awards, including the Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators, the Wilson S. Stone Memorial Award from MD Anderson, the Tetrahedron Young Investigator Award, and the EFMC Prize for Young Chemical Biologists.
