Hannah holds a BSc in Microbiology and a PhD in Medical Microbiology from the University of Liverpool. The PhD was funded by the Health Protection Research Unit in Gastrointestinal Infections and focused on applying long-read metagenomics and Hi-C sequencing to resolve closely related organisms in the gastrointestinal tract. They have experience in Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) and qualitative healthcare research, including exploring the feasibility of integrating metagenomics into healthcare settings as an infectious disease diagnostic. In 2024, they joined the Hall Lab as a Research Fellow, investigating microbe-microbe interactions across human microbiomes, including the gut and vaginal microbiome, using experimental and bioinformatic approaches to understand their impact on health.
