Jessica Whelan, PhD profile page

Dr. Jessica Whelan is an accomplished scientist in bioprocess engineering with a strong track record in both academic and industrial applications. Dr. Whelan worked as an engineer for MSD before completing a PhD and postdoctoral training in bioprocessing, PAT and advanced control. She has since worked as the Director of Technical Operations for APC, Associate Director of MS&T upstream at MBS and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Biomanufacturing Research Group at UCD, as well as Head of School in the School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering.
Dr. Whelan’s research focuses primarily on the biomanufacture of biologics and advanced therapies across all stages of the process life cycle including process analytical technologies, process modelling, advanced process control, scale-up/down strategies and process optimization. She has contributed to the start-up of a new biologics facility in her role at MBS and been heavily involved in the development of next generation process.
