John is a UK-based consultant advising food companies on risk management in their ingredient supply chain; particularly chemical contaminants, allergens, and fraud risks. He specialises in the optimum use of analytical testing within an assurance programme, the use of appropriate tests, and the interpretation of results. He began his career in a food testing laboratory before moving into a supermarket own-label technical team. He now works independently for major food manufacturers, start-ups, and small businesses, government regulators and laboratories. He has a particular interest in laboratory and regulatory capacity-building in low- and middle- income countries, and is a 3rd party auditor both of laboratories (to ISO 17025) and food manufacturers (to BRCGSv9).
