Dr. Kaitlin Johnson received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Manchester College (now Manchester University) in North Manchester, Indiana. She earned her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, studying CRISPR-Cas biology in Scott Bailey's lab in 2019. She then joined Tom Cech's lab at the University of Colorado Boulder for her postdoctoral fellowship, studying telomere synthesis and inhibition. During this time, she also started a protein engineering project that (although as yet incomplete) helped to push her towards her current position in Jamie Spangler's lab.
