Prof. Kevin Thomas is an environmental health scientist dedicated to understanding and mitigating the risks posed by contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) to human health and the environment. He holds the position of director of the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) at the University of Queensland. Additionally, Thomas leads the Minderoo Centre for Plastics and Human Health at the University of Queensland, where his research centers on human exposure to plastic pollution. He develops mass spectrometric techniques to analyze plastics and CECs, uses wastewater-based epidemiology to assess community health and devises methods for exposure monitoring. Thomas holds a DSc (2016) and a PhD in environmental science (1992‒1995) from the University of Plymouth.
