Leonard Foster, PhD profile page

Dr. Leonard Foster is a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and director of the Life Sciences Institute at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Originally from northern British Columbia, he completed his BSc at Simon Fraser University in 1996 before pursuing doctoral work at the University of Toronto, where he investigated how insulin influences adipocyte cell biology and biochemistry. He then carried out postdoctoral training in Denmark with Matthias Mann, focusing on mass spectrometry-based proteomics. Dr. Foster joined UBC in 2005. His laboratory develops and applies advanced quantitative proteomic approaches to investigate biological systems. The team studies topics such as pathogen invasion, host–pathogen interactions, infection dynamics, protein localization and protein–protein interactions.
