Lucy Dorrell, MD profile page

After graduating in Medicine, Dr. Lucy Dorrell completed clinical training in internal medicine, followed by specialist training in infectious diseases and genitourinary medicine (GUM). At the same time, Dorrell started her academic career at Imperial College London in 1993. Here, she completed doctoral research in immunology and had exposure to clinical trials, testing some of the first antiviral agents to be approved for the treatment of HIV. As a physician scientist, Dorrell was a principal investigator and honorary consultant in GUM at the University of Oxford for 25 years. She led translational research programs in HIV and HPV, latterly as professor of immunology at the Nuffield Department of Medicine. Dorrell joined Immunocore in 2017 to lead the development of new T-cell receptor-based bispecific drug candidates for the functional cure of chronic hepatitis B and HIV from concept to early-stage clinical trials. Dorrell also holds a visiting professorship at the Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health, University of Oxford, where she collaborates with scientists and clinicians working on HPV.
