Dr. Matthew D. Hall is the scientific director at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), where he leads the intramural research program. His research focuses on accelerating drug discovery and developing new technologies that help translate basic scientific discoveries into treatments, particularly for rare and underserved diseases. Hall earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry, molecular pharmacology, and toxicology, and his PhD in chemistry from the University of Sydney. Before joining NCATS in 2015, he conducted cancer drug resistance research at the National Cancer Institute. Hall has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and has received multiple NIH Awards and an HHS Secretary's Award for his contributions to COVID-19 therapeutic discovery and translational science initiatives.
