Mazhar Adli, PhD profile page

Dr. Mazhar Adli is the Thomas J. Watkins Memorial Professor of Tumor Genomics at Robert H Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Department of ObGyn at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. He obtained both a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education from Middle East Technical University (METU) and a master’s degree in biomedical engineering at Sabanci University. He obtained his PhD in cancer biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 under the supervision of Prof. Albert S. Baldwin. He completed his postdoctoral training in human epigenome with Prof. Bradley Bernstein at MGH and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT in 2012. He started his independent laboratory at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine as an assistant professor in 2012 and rose to the associate professor rank there. In 2020, Adli was recruited to Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, where he is now a tenured and endowed professor of tumor genomics. His laboratory is developing and utilizing cutting-edge genome mapping and manipulation approaches to reveal aberrant genome organization in disease settings and discover genetic and therapeutic targets to treat cancer and other chronic diseases.
