Dr. Mike Egan is a chartered engineer and manager with nearly 20 years of experience managing complex collaborative projects across academia and industry with expertise spanning robotics, machine design, advanced manufacturing, formulation, processing and process scale-up. In 2024, he joined Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine as senior business development manager at iiCON, who bridge the gap in the infection innovation ecosystem between industry, academia and the NHS, to accelerate and support the discovery and development of innovative new anti-infectives, diagnostics and preventative health solutions. Egan's main focus is spearheading a £10M project funded by the Liverpool City Region to create a unique high-containment (CL3) organoid laboratory at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine – integrating AI and robotics to fast-track breakthroughs in infectious disease treatment.
