Mtamu Kililo is an impact design enthusiast, passionate about a more equitable and just Africa. He envisions a reality of this passion through design processes and products that promote economic growth and resilience, particularly in underserved communities. Kililo is the co-founder and CEO of MycoTile, a company that offers alternative building materials in Kenya. These materials are manufactured using readily available agricultural waste and rapidly growing mushroom mycelium as a bonding agent. An alumnus of the African Design Centre in Kigali, a prestigious fellowship program offered by MASS Design Group that trains and empowers young people to become creative design leaders, Kililo also currently doubles as an Architect and Director at CODE (Collaborative Design) Studio a boutique Architectural Studio founded on the principles of participatory and contextual design.
