Pedro Correa de Sampaio, PhD profile page

Dr. Pedro Correa de Sampaio is a cancer biologist and enterpreneur with a long standing interest in the tumour microenvironment. He obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge, where he developed new three-dimensional models to study how blood vessels form in tumors, in the lab. He then moved to Houston, Texas, for a postdoctoral fellowship where he studied the spatial interactions between different components of the microenvironment and immune cell infiltration. His observations led him to move back to the UK to found Neobe, engineering bacteria to remove barriers to immune infiltration in cancer patients. He has since grown the company and raised £3.5M in equity and non-dilutive funds, enabling the establishment of its engineered bacterial therapeutics platform, with two assets currently in pre-clinical development.
