Post-doctoral research associate

 at Cardiff University

Dr. Ryan Jones is a post-doctoral research associate at Cardiff University within the Arthritis UK Biomechanics and Bioengineering Centre. His research focuses on the mechanisms underpinning pain in osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions, developing human-specific in vitro models using iPSC-derived nociceptors to better capture the complexity and heterogeneity of patient experience. Ryan completed his PhD at Cardiff University, investigating axon guidance and semaphorin signaling in osteoarthritis pathology. He integrates advanced functional platforms with patient-derived biological samples to study neuron–tissue interactions and ensure experimental models remain closely aligned with patient outcomes. His work aims to develop scalable, human-specific systems that reduce reliance on animal models while supporting more predictive drug discovery and stratified medicine.
