Head of R&D
at Subsense
Scott Meek, PhD, is the head of R&D at Subsense and has spent the last 20 years developing new materials and sensors in academia, government labs and biotech startups. After a BA in Chemistry from Dartmouth College, Dr. Meek completed his PhD in organic chemistry at MIT in the research group of Tim Swager. His doctoral research focused on the design and synthesis of a new class of near-infrared fluorescent probes to detect beta-amyloid plaques. He moved on to Sandia National Labs as a postdoctoral fellow where he developed new nanoporous materials for gas and radiation sensing applications. After leaving Sandia, Dr. Meek joined biosensing startup Pixie Scientific as a research scientist responsible for new colorimetric sensor development. He was then promoted to head of R&D where he managed the design control process for smart urinalysis products, coordinating a cross-functional team with members in medical devices, software and machine learning, academic chemistry, regulatory and manufacturing, IP law and business operations. Based on technology he developed at Pixie, Meek co-founded and served as chief scientific office of Anavah Health, a biosensor company with a focus on wireless moisture detection for incontinence management.
