CNRS Research Director

 at University of Bordeaux

Dr Thomas Daubon is a Research Director (Full Professor) at CNRS, University of Bordeaux. He leads GBmetabo (Glioblastoma Metabolism) team composed of researchers, clinicians, postdocs and PhD students. Dr Daubon was trained as a cell biologist at University of Toulouse, worked as a PhD student in cancer biology at University of Poitiers and Gent VIB (Belgium). He then moved to University of Bordeaux (Pr A. Bikfalvi Team) and then to University of Bergen (Pr R. Bjerkvig team, Norway) to better characterize the role of angiogenesis in glioblastoma development. Recently, after obtaining a permanent position at CNRS as researcher at University of Bordeaux, he developed an expertise in better characterizing the role of energy metabolism in GB development. The GBmetabo team studies glioblastoma metabolism, focusing on intratumoral heterogeneity and metabolic pathways that balance different glioblastoma regions and interactions between the brain tumor and other organs. Our work is part of Cancer Neuroscience area, exploring molecular relationships between cancer cells and neurons, as well as other brain cells like astrocytes, microglia, and oligodendrocytes. By collaborating with neuroscience teams in Bordeaux, France, and internationally, we aim to develop new treatments using experimental models. We particularly assess drugs targeting energy metabolism within a Stupp protocol adapted for mice (resection + chemo-radiotherapy). Strengthening our local network with the University Hospital in Bordeaux, we propose alternative therapeutic strategies for this fatal disease.
