Research Associate

 at University of Cambridge

Dr. Thomas Dennison is a postdoctoral research associate working in the Milner Therapeutics Institute at the University of Cambridge. He works in collaboration with the lab of Matthias Zilbauer at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, where he completed his PhD in 2023 after having studied for an MSc in Genetics of Human Disease at UCL. During his PhD, Dennison gained expertise in the intestinal epithelium and the use of patient-derived intestinal epithelial organoids (hIEOs) to study its function in health and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with a particular focus on the role of DNA methylation. As part of the Milner Institute’s aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, his current research aims to build on the Zilbauer lab’s expertise and clinical insight to develop CRISPR screening methodologies in hIEOs with a translational focus. His work aims to enable a better understanding of disease mechanisms and identify novel drug targets in a patient-targeted manor.
