Vijay Murugesan is the chief materials scientist in the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate, where he develops strategic visions for the materials R&D portfolio and leads a team of over 60 materials researchers. He is the director of the Non-Equilibrium Driven Transport Driven Separations (NETS) Initiative, a lab-level research initiative focused on developing novel methodologies to extract critical materials from secondary feedstocks to secure domestic supply chains. He holds a PhD in Physics from Bharathiar University, India, is active in editorial roles for scientific journals, and is a co-recipient of the R&D100 Award and Battelle Key-Contributor Award for advances in energy storage technology.
