Prof. Dr.-Ing. Weihan Li is a Junior Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization for Batteries at RWTH Aachen University, where he leads a research group within the Center for Ageing, Reliability, and Lifetime Prediction of Electrochemical and Power Electronic Systems (CARL). He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology with summa cum laude at RWTH Aachen in 2021, after earning an M.Sc. in Automotive Engineering and Transport in 2017. Prof. Li’s research focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence and physics to drive digitalization in battery technology. He has conducted research at renowned institutions such as Imperial College London, MIT, and the University of Oxford. With over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous patents, and more than €6M in research funding from sources including the BMBF, BMWK, BMDV, EU, and industry partners, his work has garnered international recognition. Prof. Li has received prestigious honors, including the Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher 2024, the BMBF BattFutur Starting Grant (€2M+), the German Thesis Award from the Körber Foundation, the Reichart Prize, the vgbe Innovation Prize, the Battery Young Research Award, the Umbrella Award, and the RWTH Innovation Award.
