In this installment of Teach Me in 10, we're joined by Abe Gutierrez and Ed McCurdy, who provide an eloquent introduction to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, or ICP-MS.
ICP-MS is an analytical technique that can measure most of the elements listed in the period table quickly and at trace levels. In addition, ICP-MS can also measure almost any sample type, including most solids and some gases. As such, it is a technique that is adopted by scientists from a wide variety of different research fields. Abe and Ed have been working with ICP-MS for approximately 30 years. In this Teach Me in 10, they break down the ICP-MS instrumentation so that you can easily understand it.
