HCA tools have existed for close to 20 years: the technology has now matured and is available to a wider audience, promising to accelerate drug discovery and fundamental research.
HCA extracts much more valuable data from each sample, making assays significantly richer in information, for example, by using machine learning algorithms to analyze large datasets or using confocal microscopy to extract high-resolution data in 3D.
Here, we illustrate how HCA is helping in five major areas of research, taking as examples key studies in each field that have benefited from HCA:
- Cancer Research
- Stem Cells
- Neuroscience
- Infectious Diseases
- Toxicity
